Clubs can apply for TRY water polo funding to help boost participation

Applications are now open for water polo clubs to apply for Swim England funding to help encourage new players into the sport.

The TRY Water Polo Programme is designed to increase participation and offers grants of up to £500 to clubs who join the scheme to pay for equipment, coaching fees or hire additional pool space.

Successful projects will aim to link with local operators, community groups, swim schools and swimming clubs to create a pathway into water polo.

Building on START funding

Andy Fuller, National Development Manager for Water Polo, said: “These grants provide an opportunity for Swim England’s water polo clubs to increase their membership through investing in equipment, additional pool space and volunteer training, amongst other things.

“Having recently concluded a START funding round across both universities and community-based clubs, we know the real value this investment can bring.

“I hope to see similar high-quality applications for the TRY Water Polo Programme.”

Clubs wishing to apply must show evidence of a link with local partners or groups and all selected projects should be completed by September 2020.

Application forms need to be submitted to Swim England by 5pm on Monday 24 February and anyone requiring further information should email [email protected].
