Fran Halsall’s Core Exercises for Swimming
Join Commonwealth and European champion Fran Halsall and develop your core strength to support your swimming through a range of traffic light difficulty rated exercises in our widget below.
With bullet point descriptions, pictures of Fran in work-out postions, and useful information on muscle groups worked during exercises, our Fran Halsall Core Exercises widget is your concise guide to strengthening your swimming on non-swimming days.
Using the widget couldn't be easier. Simply choose the exercise and then pick your level through the traffic light system. Green is for beginner, Amber for intermediate and Red for Fran level.
Just because you are not swimming doesn't mean you can't work on improving your performance. And all you need is your floor!

Chris Cottrell (ASA Web Journalist) from LoughboroughHi Liz.
The position is kneeling on your hands and knees with your knees below your hips and your hands below your shoulders.
The best example of this is Fran’s picture in Superman - Easy.
