National artistic swimming competition to be live streamed this weekend

The first-ever virtual Swim England Artistic Swimming National Junior and Senior Championships will be streamed live on Facebook this weekend.

The competition will take place on Sunday 26 September, with the live stream starting at 10am.

There has been a total of 55 entries across the four events – Technical Solo, Technical Duet, Technical Mixed Duet and Technical Team.

Fourteen clubs have performed their routines in their own pools and submitted footage to be scored by qualified judges.

The top 12 routines from each event will be shown on the live stream, followed by announcements to reveal each winner.

Prestigious trophy to be won

One athlete will also be crowned the new winner of the Colin Lushington Memorial Trophy.

The trophy will be awarded to the highest placed swimmer in the Technical Solo event. The most recent winner was Greta Hampson of the City of Leeds.

This is the first instalment of four virtual artistic swimming competitions, with the Swim England Artistic Swimming Virtual National Age Group Championships the next on the calendar.

The event conditions for that competition are now online and you can view them here.

Both the Swim England Artistic Swimming National Masters Championships and Swim England Artistic Swimming Virtual Combo Cup will take place later this year.
