E-learning exploring the Swim England Return to Pools Guidance now open to everyone

To support the release of Swim England’s Return to Pools guidance, the Institute of Swimming created a series of free training webinars and e-learning for swimming teachers and assistants.

The webinars saw unprecedented demand with 5000 places taken in just a couple of weeks. These webinars covered an Introduction to the Returning to Pools Guidance, Teaching from Poolside, Effective Communication and Teaching in Deep Water. To make sure everyone has the chance to access the training, they have packaged the webinar recordings into five free videos which can be accessed through swimming.org/ios.

For those looking for a more structured program, the Institute of Swimming has created certificated e-learning which includes additional content for coaches and a final quiz to ensure the guidance is understood. Initially, the e-learning was released free for members but, due to huge demand, it is now available for all for just £5. Members and those who are halfway through their qualification and waiting to attend their practical sessions and assessment can access this e-learning for free.

The Institute of Swimming is offering to support all partners who wish to ensure their workforce can implement the guidance effectively. If you would like to discuss e-learning access for your workforce, please contact [email protected].

The interactive e-learning illustrates the key measures that need to be in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission within the swimming pool environment. A downloadable certificate is included for those who complete the final quiz. This can be shown to customers and employers to demonstrate your readiness to return to the pool.

Topics covered are:

  • The Guidance
  • Risk Assessments
  • Inclusive Practice
  • Returning to Swimming Lessons
  • Delivering from Poolside
  • Effective Communication
  • Guidance for Coaches
