Trainee swimming teachers given free access to the Swim England Expected Standards Videos

With the majority of courses starting online through e-learning and live webinars, the Institute of Swimming is ensuring that trainee swimming teachers have all the tools and support they need to succeed.

Those starting their SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming or Combined SEQ Level 1 and 2 programmes online, will now have free access to the Swim England Expected Standards Videos while they study the course theory.

Both of these courses are split into online theory and pool-based practical sessions. They start online, exploring the theoretical elements through a series of virtual classrooms and interactive e-learning.

The Swim England Expected Standards Videos provide a valuable resource to use alongside the course theory with over 100 videos showcasing the outcomes throughout the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework, Stages 1 to 7 and more.

Swim England Expected Standards

The Swim England Expected Standards are referenced throughout the Learn to Swim Programme and provide the benchmark for progressing through the different stages.

The videos show what each Expected Standard should look like within the Stage. All the participants shown are learning how to swim and working towards the Stage they are in. This means you can see a wide range of abilities, progression and techniques.

Each video has audio commentary and written text which explains what is being shown in more detail.

Jenny Norvill, Head of the Institute of Swimming Said:

“This is a fantastic tool for our learners to use as they progress through the theoretical elements of the course. It perfectly complements the course content and helps to create a consistent approach among swimming teachers so no matter where they go on to teach, they are providing a high-quality lesson which is suitable for swimmers at each Stage.”

Anyone who books on to one of the Institute of Swimming’s SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming or Combined SEQ Level 1 and 2 courses will be given a Vimeo access code during their first webinar. This will give then free access for the duration of their course theory.

Once the trainees come to the end of their free access, they can purchase the rental option, allowing them to stream all the films in the package, for a year. This costs no more than £1 per month for the length of the subscription. Alternatively, all the films can be streamed and downloaded for an annual subscription of £250.
