Changes to our Teaching Swimming course structure

In 2020 we changed our course structure so that everyone who wanted to become a swimming teacher could start their training. We split our courses into theoretical and practical parts, with the theory taking place through interactive zoom webinars and e-learning.

Completing theoretical training online has had a positive impact on many. It has allowed people to fit courses around their lifestyle and allowed us to better cater to individual learning styles.

Now that we have qualified the majority of people who started their training with us during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, we are bringing our theory and practical courses back together. As a result, we now have three different course structures available:

1. Face to Face

This is our original course structure with 100% of your training delivered at the venue. The course theory takes place in a seminar room on site and you will then go to the pool for your practical work, lesson delivery and assessment.

2. Blended Learning

Some of the course theory takes place online through interactive e-learning which you do in your own time. Once you get to the venue, there is some theory content to cover in a seminar room before your practical work, lesson delivery and assessment pool-side.

3. Online and Virtual Learning

This course type allows us to make the most of learning online and will cover the course theory through interactive e-learning and live zoom webinars. E-learning allows you to work through the content at your own pace while the zoom webinars will be with the rest of your course cohort and from the comfort of your own home. Once you get to the venue, you’ll have pool-based practical work, lesson delivery and assessment to complete.

Completing your qualification

After the summer, all our courses will encompass both the theory and practical in one course. If you started your SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming, Combined SEQ Level 1 and 2 Teaching Swimming, or SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming to Babies and Toddlers qualifications through one of our Theory Only courses, we will have Practical Sessions available till the end of the year. So you can complete your qualification locally, we plan all our practical courses where those who have started their theory are based. Our goal is to make sure everyone who has started their theory training has the opportunity to complete their qualification before the end of 2022.
