As part of the Para Swimming World Championship legacy in Manchester, we are launching an inclusive swimming teacher recruitment academy with a specific focus on increasing the number of disabled people in teaching.

We are committed to breaking down barriers and empowering disabled people and those with long term health conditions to receive training to become qualified swimming teachers for free.

We believe that everyone should have equal opportunities to excel and make a difference in the world of swimming teaching. We recognise the value of lived experience that disabled teachers can bring to the poolside.

The Inclusive Recruitment Academy is a unique programme offering a tailored approach to training. We understand that each person’s journey is unique, and we are dedicated to providing reasonable adjustments and support to ensure your success. Our experienced tutors will work closely with you, adapting teaching methods to suit your specific needs and abilities.

Following the successful completion of the programme there will be the opportunity to work at the following pools:

  • Everyone Active:
    • Wythenshawe Forum, Simonsway, Wythenshawe, Manchester M22 5RX
  • Matt Walker Swim Programme:
    • Moss Side Leisure Centre, Moss Side, Manchester, M15 5NN
  • Bambers Inclusive Swimming:
    • Piper Hill High School, Firbank Rd, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 2YS
    • Wright Robinson College, Abbey Hey Ln, Gorton, Manchester, M18 8RL
    • Peak School, Buxton Road, Chinley, High Peak, Derbyshire, SK23 6ES

Teaching hours will generally be weekdays evenings, and weekends. Times will vary by site and there may be an opportunity for additional school/daytime hours.

Once qualified successful trainees will be employed as paid swimming teachers on a casual or part-time basis.

Interviews and an informal meet and greet will occur shortly after the application closes.

You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply as you will be supported through your training.
