Free coaching sessions at Swim Serpentine

I’m sure 2018 will be remembered as an amazing summer of sun, which has been great for the world of open water swimming.

This year many venues have seen a big rise in the amount of people taking up and trying out open water swimming.

For many, it has been a surprise how different swimming outside is to swimming in a pool. The majority of people love their first time open water swimming. I’ve had the pleasure of watching swimmers initial apprehension turn into big smiles, laughter and a love of the open water.

This is why we love supporting initiatives like Swim Serpentine. The event is being held on 22 September in Hyde Park, London, and attracts around 5,000 swimmers each year.

Get some top tips from our coaches

Our Swim England coaches will be there to add an extra bit of fun and give opportunities for everyone to have a go, including those new to the sport and families of those participating.

For  people who would like some coaching but don’t fancy getting in the water, or are already swimming and want to talk tactics, we have a stand in the main arena where you can talk to two of our qualified coaches.

On the other hand, if you would like some coaching in the water with one of our talented open water coaches, you can book a short session in the Lido located on the opposite side of the lake to the main arena next to the Lido Café and Bar. This is recommended for swimmers who are already confident and can swim at least 400m without stopping.

Fun for all the family

If you have never tried open water swimming and want to have some fun with your family, why not try our teacher-led family fun sessions. Instructors will lead you through games to play with your children based on the skills they need to improve their swimming. This is recommended for those aged over eight-years-old.

Just drop by the lido or our stand in the main arena to book a time slot for any of these sessions. Free wetsuits will be provided for those taking part.

For more information about the event and how to enter please see the Swim Serpentine website.
