Okehampton on fire in second session with two new world records

Masters swimmers delivered a remarkable set of performances at the second session on day one of the Masters National Championships, with relay teams setting a total of four world records.

Three European records and four British records across various age categories added to the total of 11 broken records in session two.

Okehampton were the ones to watch, with two world record-breaking swimmers in the same session.

Their first came as Sonny Trigg, Jamie Ingram, Rachael Bowen and Georgie Pryor impressed in the 100+ years Mixed 4x50m Freestyle, clocking 1:36.14 to secure gold.

The quartet of Daniel Cross, Dominic Polling, Regan Lloyd and Ingram once again, then followed up with another record-breaking swim of 3:36.74 in the 100+ years Open/Male 4x100m Medley Relay, demonstrating their strength across all strokes.

In the 200+ years Mixed 4x50m Freestyle, Woking’s Dean Blackman, Georgina Heyn, Michelle Ware and Michael Hodgson delivered a powerful performance, touching in 1:43.64 to set a new world record and further raise the bar for Masters relay swimming.

Trafford Metro’s world record came in the 160+ years Female 4x100m Medley Relay (4:28.29) courtesy of Kathryn Greenslade, Mala Rajput-Driver, Louisa Zolkiewski and Helen Sadler to finish off a successful second session at Ponds Forge.
