I love volunteering because: Being involved in swimming all my life it is great to be able to give back. Also being able to see swimmers you help achieve new times and improve in ways they never thought they would, helping them to develop not only as swimmers but people too, is so rewarding.
I am currently studying for my A-levels in Biology, Physical Education and Psychology. In the future I hope to undertake a degree in Sports Psychology at either The University of South Wales or Chichester University.
Swimming has always been a big aspect of my life; since I was 7 where I first began swimming competitively for my home club Bicester Bluefin’s, until I later moved to Maxwell and Buckingham Swans Swimming Club, whom I still swim for today.
As well as swimming myself I also enjoy coaching for my club, which I have been doing for the last couple of years.
Outside of swimming I also play and coach netball, which alongside coaching swimming has helped me realise my love for sport. As well as this I have also been involved with the Youth Sport Trust National Talent Camp, which was a great experience.
In the summer I’ve helped coach various sports at summer camps across Oxfordshire for young children. In addition to this I help teach younger years (7-11) PE lessons within school and at extra-curricular clubs across a variety of sports including helping run school competitions and volunteering at the Sainsbury’s School Games last year.
I have also completed many volunteering and coaching awards and qualifications, including my Junior Sports Leadership Award (JSLA), Bronze, Silver & Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards, and Level 1 in coaching swimming, and hope to undertake my Level 2 later this year.
