City of Sheffield power their way into U17 semi finals

City of Sheffield powered their way into the National Age Group Championships semi-finals with two dominant displays at the U17 qualifiers in Walsall.

The North East side, who finished runners-up to Sedgefield in a dramatic final 12 months ago, saw off Caledonia and City of Manchester to finish top of their group.

They racked up an eye-catching 21 goals against Scottish side Caledonia before a four-goal victory against their Northern rivals.

City of Manchester beat Caledonia 16-13 in the other match in Group A to secure their spot in the semis.

Ealing and Newton Abbot through from Group B

Manchester will face Newton Abbot in their semi-final after the Devon outfit won both matches in Group B of the qualifiers.

Both Newton Abbot and Ealing were victorious against Sutton & Cheam in their opening matches, meaning both sides would progress to the finals weekend.

And it took a goal from Dylan Morley with 3:46 left on the clock to split the two sides in the final match of the day, with Newton Abbot’s 11-10 victory ensuring them top spot in the group.

Ealing will go on to face City of Sheffield in their semi-final, with the finals weekend taking place at Manchester Aquatics Centre on 22 – 23 April.
