Girls U18s Water Polo Inter-Regional Championships set to be 'thrilling' event
January 24, 2020Twelve teams will battle it out for glory in what promises to be a ‘thrilling’ weekend of Inter-Regional Championships water polo action.
Five U18 Girls sides are in contention for the Division One crown at East Manchester Leisure Centre, hosted by the North West region, while the West Midlands region host the Division Two fixtures at Walsall Baths.
All the matches are taking place across the 25 and 26 January.
South East Anderida take on North West Thunder in the opening game of Division One, which will be a round-robin format.
North East Steelers, Ireland and South East Anderida will also be competing in Division One.
The structure of Division Two sees teams play in two groups on Saturday, with West Midlands and Scotland Saltires kicking off the Group B fixtures.
North West Lightning and East Angels make up Group B, with East Midlands, London Sharks and Wales contesting Group C.
Once the group stages are complete, play-offs will take place on Sunday.
Andy Fuller, Swim England Water Polo Development Manager, is looking forward to the event.

Last time out
The 2019 results saw the Division One title go down to the wire as the final match of a huge weekend of water polo decided all three medal positions.
The South West secured gold by the narrowest of margins over the London Sharks, having scored more goals in their fixture against the third-placed North West Thunder.
In Division Two, the teams will be seeking to follow in the footsteps of the North East Steelers, who posted a 100 per cent win record on their march to last year’s title.
