North West Thunder aim to defend U14 Girls' Inter-Regional title

North West Thunder will be aiming to storm to their second U14 Girls’ Inter-Regional Championships title this weekend.

The 2017 champions have been drawn in Group A of the competition at Walsall Gala Baths.

They will face West Midlands, London, Scotland and East on Saturday 1 December, with the the play-off matches, semi-finals and final taking place on Sunday 2 December.

North West Thunder defeated North East Steelers 7-4 on the way to their first title, Harriet Dickens scoring a hat-trick in the final quarter to seal the victory.

The Steelers are in Group B alongside East Midlands, South West, North West Lightning and last year’s bronze medallists South East, who defeated London 16-5 in the third and fourth play-off.

West Midlands bidding for second Inter-Regional crown

In the U14 Boys’ Inter-Regional Championships, West Midlands will be hoping home advantage can help them successfully defend their title.

The event takes place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December at Walsall Gala Baths.

West Midlands beat 2015 champions North East Steelers 5-1 in last year’s final to land their first U14 Boys’ Inter-Regional crown.

This year, they have been drawn against London, North West Ravens, South West and Scotland in Group A.

In Group B, North East Steelers will come up agains North West Tigers, who claimed the bronze medal in 2017 with an 8-6 penalty shootout win after the third and fourth play-off clash had finished 4-4.

Also in Group B are Wales, East Midlands and East.
