Female U15 National Age Group Champs round out exciting year for water polo

The GoCardless Swim England Female U15 National Age Group Championships 2023 round out an exciting year for water polo.

Nine teams are heading to Coventry’s Alan Higgs Centre for a thrilling weekend of action as we find out who will become this year’s national champions.

The competition completes a strong year for the sport, headlined by Great Britain’s Senior Women’s squad who are preparing to head to Eindhoven in January to compete at the European Championships for the first time in 10 years.

Before that though we focus on the next generation where the City of Manchester will be looking to retain their crown from 2022 to make it a double of U15 national titles.

The club took victory at last weekend’s U15 Open event and their female side enter this competition aiming to retain their crown from 2022.

The North West side defeated Beckenham 13-4 in last year’s finale with Cheltenham running out winners in the bronze medal match against City of Sheffield.

This time round Manchester will have to top a group of four teams in order to reach Sunday’s gold medal match.

They’ll face Sheffield, Rotherham and City of Liverpool in Group B with Beckenham and Cheltenham amongst the five teams in Group A.

Last year’s silver and bronze medalists will be joined by Exeter, Worthing and West London Penguin as they look to reach the podium once again.

The two sides face each other in one of the opening matches of the competition on Saturday with Worthing taking on Exeter to kick off the action on pitch two in a battle between the teams who finished fourth and fifth at last weekend’s open competition.

All group matches will be played on Saturday 16 December with the medal matches and playoffs to decide the final places of each team being played on Sunday 17 December..

You can follow our live scoreboard for all the results throughout the course of the competition via this link.
