Dave Taylor and David Edwards step down from roles with Senior Water Polo squad

Dave Taylor and David Edwards have stepped down from their respective positions with the Swim England Men’s Senior Water Polo squad.

Taylor, who was the head coach, and Edwards, who held the team manager position, both hailed from Cheltenham Swimming and Water Polo Club.

The pair have been praised for their commitment, especially during what has been a difficult time for water polo, as it has for a lot of sports, throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Taylor works for the NHS and had to balance his time working during the pandemic alongside the needs of the squad.

He also helped to treat Edwards when the team manager contracted Covid-19 in 2021.

Good luck for the future

Edwards, who still plays water polo, is also the former CEO of GB Snowsport and brought a lot of expertise and knowledge to his role.

On the news of the duo stepping down, Swim England’s head of performance operations, Rachel Bayley, praised them for their work during a challenging period.

She said: “It’s been an unbelievably difficult couple of years to manage squads during the pandemic and we thank both of them for the time they have committed.

“The pair came with a lot of expertise which will certainly be missed and we wish them good luck with their plans for the future.”
