Four British champions selected for 2017 EuropeansJune 6, 2017
All four of last weekend’s individual British champions are among 10 English divers selected for the 2017 European Championships in Kiev.
City of Leeds trio Kat Torrance, Lois Toulson and Matty Lee as well as Sheffield’s Ross Haslam will go into the Championships, taking place from 12 – 18 June, in high spirits after topping the podium in Edinburgh last weekend.
The three Leeds divers all competed at last year’s Europeans in London, with Lee finishing fifth in the 10m Platform as well as claiming Mixed 10m Synchro silver and Team Event bronze.
Sheffield’s Rio 2016 Olympian Freddie Woodward will also head to Ukraine with the British Diving team.
Plymouth Diving’s Matthew Dixon and Dive London’s Robyn Birch will be competing at their second European Championships, with Birch having won 10m Synchro silver on her debut in 2015.
The other three English divers – Noah Williams, Ruby Bower and Phoebe Banks – will be making their first appearance at senior European level.

An opportunity to gain valuable high-level experience
Team Leader and British Diving Performance Manager Kim White said: “The European Championships gives our divers a great opportunity to gain valuable high-level competition experience and exposure.
“The team has a mix of both more seasoned divers as well as some debutants to international competition. Phoebe Banks and Ruby Bower get a first call-up to an international team whilst taking GCSE exams in Kiev.”
“The British Diving Championships in Edinburgh provided a great warm-up for the divers and we hope to feature on the continental podium several times throughout the meet.
“The Europeans will also see two younger coaches selected to be part of a senior international team. It will give Tom Owens [City of Sheffield] and Nick Robinson-Baker [Edinburgh Diving] a great opportunity to continue to sharpen their coaching skills and develop their processes in a competition environment.”
