New world marker for Dunn at British Masters Champs 2016 Day ThreeApril 3, 2016
The British Masters Champs 2016 Day Three drew to a close with World, European and British records falling throughout the final two sessions.
Hatfield’s Chris Dunn set a world record in the 70/74 Yrs 400m Freestyle, while there were European records for Carnegie’s Judith Hattle and East Leeds’ Mixed 4x200m Freestyle Relay quartet.
British Masters Champs 2016 Day Three: Session Seven
Trafford Metro set the first British record of the penultimate session, taking gold in the Mixed 240+ Yrs 4x50m Freestyle Relay in 2:01.61.
There were also 4x50m Medley Relay records for Spencer Swim Team’s men in the 280+ Yrs age group (2:32.30) and the Birmingham Masters men in the 320+ Yrs age group (3:05.18)
In the 160+ Yrs Women’s 4x50m Medley Relay, the East Leeds team – who took gold in a new record time in the 4x50m Freestyle relay yesterday – took victory in a new British record of 2:12.15.
After setting a European record in the 200m Freestyle, Chris Dunn (Hatfield) went one better in the 70/74 Yrs 400m event, touching the wall first in 5:11.68 and setting a new world record.
In the Women’s 400m Freestyle, East Leeds duo Philippa Rickard (4:58.80) and Karen Graham (4:58.71) – who set records on both day one and two – laid down new British record markers as they took gold in in the 45/49 Yrs and 50/54 Yrs age groups respectively.
Karen Elly (Hyde Seal) set her second freestyle British record of the Championships as she posted a time of 5:12.39 to take silver behind Ireland’s Dymphna Morris in the 55/59 Yrs age group.
British Masters Champs 2016 Day Three: Session Eight
Chris Dunn set his second record of the night, as he posted a new European best time of 1:05.45 to take gold in the Men’s 70/74 Yrs 100m Freestyle.
The Mixed 4x200m Free relay saw three records broken including a world record from Newcastle (8:54.27) in the 100+ Yrs age group, a British record from the GB Police team (9:11.31) in the 160+ Yrs age group and a European record from the East Leeds quartet (9:20.33) in the 200+ Yrs age group.
In the Men’s 50m Breaststroke 30/34 Yrs age group, Alistair Crawford (East Leeds) was the only man under the 30-second marker as he took gold in a new British record time of 29.50. There was also a British record for Michael Hodgson (Guildford) in the Men’s 45/49 Yrs Age Group (30.02).
In the women’s event, Spondon Masters’ Jennifer Merritt broke the British record on her way to gold in the 65/69 Yrs age group (43.01).
There were also two records broken in the Women’s 200m Butterfly as Nicola Latty (Sub 160) posted a British record of 2:32.51 in the 45/49 Yrs age group, while Carnegie’s Judith Hattle set a new European record of 2:48.61 in the 55/59 Yrs age group.
