Masters community mourns John Davis

Birmingham Masters swimmer John Davis passed away peacefully on Friday 30 January 2015 with his family by his side.

The 90-year old joined Birmingham Masters Swimming Club in 1991 and was a regular part of their team at Midland, National, European and World Masters Swimming Championships with his biggest fan and partner Betty Sansome.

While John did not have a strong swimming background, it did not stop him from being extremely successful.

The peak of his success was winning the 80-84 age group 400m Individual Medley at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Riccione in 2004.

He still holds British records for long and short course 200m Breaststroke in the 80-84 age group, set in 2004.
