Two British records broken as 40 titles won on day six in Sheffield

Two British records were broken on the penultimate day of the Speedo British Summer Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Roan Brennan stole the show in the evening session as he broke the S9 100m Butterfly record whilst Cambridge’s Clare Connon set a new British S5 record in the morning session in the Women’s 50m Backstroke.

Swim England Para-Swimming talent athlete Brennan set the record in the Men’s MC 100m Butterfly with a time of 1:04.22.

That was only good enough to earn him bronze however as he scored 706 points for the swim.

The result was just short of both Louis Lawlor and Jack Milne who won gold and silver with a points total of 738 and 714 respectively.

Connon’s time of 51.16 in the morning session saw her break a record that had stood since 2008 after a sensational swim.

She look to beat her own record again in the final race of the day but fell just short with a time of 51:88.

Teegan Matthews completed a trio of backstroke titles after her time of 30.34 in the Women’s 50m Backstroke for the 13-14 age group.

The Guildford CT swimmer added to both her 200m title yesterday and her 100m win on day three.
