Busy weekend of racing leads to important changes for National Winter Champs

Some important changes have been made to the upcoming National Winter Championships which is shaping up to be a busy weekend of racing in Sheffield.

Due to a large number of entries, racing will be split across two short course pools for the heats sessions with men in one pool and women in the other.

An updated version of the competition schedule will be published after entries close on 25 November at midday, after which time no late entries will be accepted.

If swimmers are no longer able to race some or all of their events, please notify Swim England of the withdrawal at the earliest opportunity via the online withdrawal form.

Respective entry fees will be refunded for withdrawals made before the start of the team leader meeting on Thursday 2 December.

From Monday 29 November, spectators tickets will become available and further information is available here.

A training day will take place on Thursday 2 December will soon be made available for online bookings here. Prior booking will be necessary ahead of arrival.

Final preparations underway

The first swimmers will dive into the iconic Ponds Forge International Sports Centre on Friday 3 December and kick off what is bound to be a fantastic weekend of swimming.

Swim England head of events, Ekaterina Boyd, said: “With just over a week to go until the event takes place, final preparations are well and truly underway to ensure a seamless delivery.

“We have made some adjustments to cater for the volume of entries and restructured the schedule to allow for this.

“It is so exciting to be welcoming swimmers, coaches, spectators and volunteers alike back to Ponds Forge for this event.”
