Dates confirmed for Water Polo Inter-Regional Championships 2020

The dates and venues for the Swim England Water Polo Inter-Regional Championships 2020 have been confirmed.

The Under 18 age group will be in action early in the new year.

The girls’ Division One Championship will be played on 25-26 January at East Manchester Leisure Centre, while the Division Two Championship will take place at West Midlands region’s Walsall Gala Baths on the same weekend.

Both boys’ competitions will be held on 1-2 February, hosted by the North East region at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge.

North West Tigers were crowned Division One boys’ champions for 2019, while Scotland sealed the Division Two title.

South West edged out London Sharks to win the girls’ Division One title, as North East Steelers dominated Division Two.

Under 16s

The Under 16 girls and boys events will take place in June and July.

The South West region will host the boys’ Division One Championship at GL1 in Gloucester on 27-28 June, with the North West hosting Division Two at Palatine Leisure Centre in Blackpool on the same weekend.

On 4-5 July, the girls’ Division One teams will be in action in Blackpool, while Division Two will take place at Walsall Gala Baths.

Earlier this year, North West Thunder beat North East Steelers in a thrilling finale to win the girls’ Division One title, while Ireland were flawless on their way to sealing the Division Two crown.

London were also undefeated as they won the Under 16 boys’ Division One title and Ireland added another trophy to sweep Division Two.

Under 14s

The Inter-Regional Championship for Under 14s will take place prior to Christmas, with the boys competing on 5-6 December and the girls featuring a week later on 12-13 December.

Both events will be held at Walsall Gala Baths.
