Find Hydrotherapy Pools

Hydrotherapy pools are generally defined as those where the water temperature is around 32-35.5 ºC, so warmer than a typical swimming pool. Using a hydrotherapy pool can bring additional physical and psychological benefits over and above what can be achieved in lower-temperature environments, which aids recovery and wellbeing – for example, improved circulation, improved renal function, improved respiratory function, reduced muscle spasms and spasticity, and reduced pain.

Hydrotherapy is sometimes also called Aquatic Physiotherapy and is a physiotherapy programme utilising the properties of water, designed by a suitably qualified physiotherapist. The programme should be specific for an individual to maximise function. Hydrotherapy should be carried out by appropriately trained personnel, ideally in a purpose-built and suitably heated hydrotherapy pool.
