Two more British records rounds off exciting day of racing at Masters Nationals

The final session of day two of action at the 2021 Swim England Masters National Championships saw two more British records falling.

Emma Wills of York City Swimming Club earned herself a new British record time in the Women’s 400m Freestyle (40-44 years).

Her time of 4:35.06 took down the previous time – which belonged to her and was set in September 2021 – of 4:36.65 by just over half a second, winning gold in the process and securing her first record of this meet.

Hutchinson shatters 400 free record

Charlie Hutchinson continued his strong form at this competition with a British record in the Men’s 400m Freestyle (18-24 years).

The Loughborough National Centre athlete clocked a time of 3:48.63, taking down the former best-in-Britain time of 3:53.12 and leading a Loughborough 1-2-3 as overall winner of the event.

In second place was Nathan Wiffen (Loughborough Univesity) with 3:55.53 while Nicola Paskalev (Loughborough University) was third with 3:55.57.

That was Hutchinson’s second record of the day after he broke the Men’s 200m Freestyle British record (18-24 years) earlier in the day.

His time of 1:48.04 in that event carried him to victory in what was a closely-fought battle between him and teammate Charlie Brown (1:48.08).
