
Brock Whiston sets new world record at British Summer Championships
July 26, 2019Brock Whiston set a new world record on day three of the British Summer Championships in Glasgow.
The Barking and Dagenham swimmer clocked 1:13.51 on her way to gold in the Women’s MC 100m Breaststroke final at the Tollcross International Sports Centre.
Whiston broke her own previous world record of 1:14.41 that she set at the Para-swimming World Series in Berlin in June.
Her performance earned her a total of 1,156 points.
The S8 swimmer also holds the world record in the 50m Breaststroke, 34.12, which she also set during June’s Para-swimming World Series in Berlin.
Meanwhile. a total of 32 titles were won on the third day of the event.
There were a number of exciting races, including the Men’s 15 Years 1500m Freestyle.
After almost 16-and-a-half minutes of swimming, only 0.06 seconds separated first and second place.
Tigers Jersey’s Thomas Deffains took the gold medal in 16:24.74, with Wycombe District’s Joshua Weston narrowly behind in 16:24.80.
