Coaches Euan Dale and Kevin Brooks join Swimming Leadership Group

Two Coaching Leads have been appointed to Swim England’s Swimming Leadership Group (SLG) to support the delivery of coaching within the sport.

Euan Dale and Kevin Brooks have taken up the positions to ‘ensure the views of coaches’ are represented within the group.

Both Euan and Kevin have a wealth of experience in the coaching world and are both lifelong supporters of the sport.

Kevin is the Head Coach at Wycombe District Swimming Club and has been sitting on the South East Regions Coaching panel for some time.

He has been coaching for more than 20 years and has produced a number of International swimmers and medallists across his career.

On being appointed to the group, Kevin said: “Having been involved with the Regional and National Coaching Technical panels in a voluntary role since the mid 2000’s, I’m looking forward to representing the voice and views of coaches at the ‘top table’ of Swimming in England – The SLG.

“Between Euan and myself, I believe we can both support Swim England constructively; to ensure that their events meet the needs of the swimmers and coaches.

“And in addition, give independent professional advice [to Swim England] on all coaching, club and programme related matters impacting our sport currently and as we move into the future. I’m looking forward to volunteering on the SLG and supporting Swim England’s staff.”

Euan is currently the Director of Swimming at Millfield School and was a highly decorated swimmer before moving into coaching.

He’s a nine-time British National Champion and represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympic Games in the 400m Individual Medley.

‘Supporting the development of aquatics’

Euan believes the opportunity of joining the group gives him a chance to help shape the future of the sport.

“I am delighted to be appointed into Swim England Swimming Leadership Group, representing the coaching community. For me the opportunity to strategically support the development of aquatics was the driving force.

“We have an unbelievable community within our sport, helping evolve and shape that moving forward is a fruitful prospect. The key aspect is thinking about how we can continue to make swimming an attractive option for everyone evolved in the ever changing landscape.”

Tom Baster, Chair of the SLG, welcomed the new additions to the team.

He said: “I am delighted to welcome two outstanding coaches in Euan and Kevin to the Swim England Swimming Leadership Group.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with them as representatives of our coaching community with the shared aim of improving our sport for all Swim England members.”

Swim England’s Head of Coaching Lindsay Trimmings is delighted that the voice of coaching will be heard throughout the sport.

“Both Euan and Kevin sit on their respective regional coaching panels and are the coaches nominated to represent their region on the National Coaches Technical panel.

“By now having both coaches on the Swimming Leadership group, they will help Swim England to ensure that the voice of the swimming coaching community is being heard from the grassroots through to the elite end of the sport.”
