Kyo Tanner finally gets his hands on ASA National title

Preston’s Kyo Tanner finally secured a national title after a series of near misses over the first few days of the ASA National Summer Championships 2015 in Sheffield.

Tanner went out fast in the Men’s 12/13yrs 100m Freestyle and held onto his early lead to take gold in 56.44 ahead of City of Liverpool’s Tobey Ryland and Romford Town’s James Cooper who finished second (56.84) and third (57.45) respectively.

And having finished fourth in the 200m Freestyle earlier in the meet, Tanner was delighted to move three places up the leaderboard over half the distance.

“I’ve been missing out on a few medal positions leading up to tonight’s 100 Free final and tonight I guess I had enough,” said Tanner.

“I worked really hard, accelerated as much as I could in the last 25 metres, and it feels so great to finally have a medal – a gold medal.”
