Second series of Level X Racing launched ahead of indoor pools reopening

Series 2 of Level X Racing has been launched ahead of indoor pools reopening on April 12.

The virtual event is set to return to clubs across the country from April 12 to August 22 2021.

Level X Racing allows athletes to complete time-trials in a full programme of events, held at their respective pools, with the results then being collated and displayed on leaderboards when the series concludes.

All of Swim England’s Category 2 members are invited to take part in the series to challenge themselves against swimmers from across the country within the comfort of their home pools.

‘Another layer to the mix’

Grant Robins, Swim England’s head of swimming talent, said of the series: “The Level X concept has proved to be a fun and interactive way for our athletes to experience the joy of racing in a way that still abides by Government regulations.

“The feedback we have received from the first series has been extremely encouraging, so we’re looking forward to seeing series 2 commencing and hoping to see more clubs being able to take part.

“Indoor pools reopening is going to be hugely significant for each and every member of the aquatics community, and we’re hopeful that Level X will add another layer of excitement to the mix.

“Once sufficient training has taken place, the opportunity to race will be hugely beneficial for these athletes. We hope that it will be fun and enjoyable for them to be able to track their progress in what has undoubtedly been an extremely difficult year.”

The event will officially launch for under 18 members on 12 April, with the over 18’s/Masters edition opening on May 17 – as per current Government guidance and the roadmap out of lockdown.

The series will run until August 22, giving everyone ample time to get back in the water, train with their clubs and race in Level X.

The events in the series include 50m, 100m, and 200m across all strokes, 400m, 800m, and 1500m Freestyle, 100m, 200m and 400m Individual Medley.
