Para-swimmers face final World Series test ahead of Manchester World Championships

Ten English swimmers are representing Great Britain in the penultimate leg of the 2023 CITI Para Swimming World Series event in Limoges, France this weekend.

The British contingent of 13 swimmers are one of the 29 nations heading to France as the country holds it’s first World Series event – one year out from the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

Limoges’ Aquapolis complex will host three days of action from the 26-28 May with the British team getting their final taste of World Series action before this summer’s World Championships in Manchester.

After her silver medal at the World Series event in Berlin a fortnight ago, Ellie Challis is back in action as she prepares to defend her SB2 50m Breaststroke World title on home soil in around two months’ time.

S14 swimmers Poppy Maskill (Alsager Swimming Club) and Georgia Sheffield (Bolton Metro Swimming Club) also travel across the English Channel as they continue to fine-tune their racing processes on an international stage.

And the event also sees a return to competitive action for Commonwealth champion Alice Tai – who’s missed the start of 2023 with injury – whilst Zach Washington-Young will race for the first time since the World Series event in Sheffield back in March.

Luke Batty, Bruce Dee, Eliza Humphrey, Megan Neave and Fern Sneddon complete the English line-up as the young swimmers look to gain more international racing experience in France.

Scotland’s Oliver Carter, Tegan Davidson and Jack Milne compete the 13-strong British group.

The competition will be live streamed on the CITI Para-Swimming World Series France website with the heats starting at 8am and the finals at 4pm for each of the three days.
