DiSE swimmers return to Sweden for Linkoping Water Games

Swim England’s DiSE swimmers are back in Sweden as 30 athletes prepare to compete at this weekend’s Linkoping Water Games.

The second annual competition marks the team’s second trip to Sweden, following the 23-medal haul at the Swedish Grand Prix earlier this month.

It marks a great opportunity for more swimmers on the programme to experience an overseas competition and help prepare them for a future in the sport.

Joining them in southern Sweden are a team of 11 staff that includes members of the Swim England team, coaches, team managers as well as both a physiotherapist and a performance physiologist.

They flew out to Sweden on Thursday ahead of the three-day event getting underway on Friday 28 March at the impressive Tinnerbäcksbadet Linkoping pool.

Speaking ahead of the camp, Swim England DiSE Assesor Manager and Team Leader for the trip, Darren Sims, says that the meet presents a great opportunity for the athletes.

“We’re excited to be heading back to Sweden for the Linkoping Water Games,” he said.

“These overseas events are really important to help the athletes understand their race plans and processes, giving them things they can learn and reflect as we approach their major events of the year.

“It also presents a great opportunity for the athletes to prepare for the upcoming Aquatics GB Swimming Championships and a chance for them to get some early racing inside the summer qualification window.

“To support them with that, we’ve got an incredible team of coaches and practitioners travelling with the squad to help them execute their skills in a new environment.”

Morning heats will take place at 8:30am (UK time) each day whilst finals will start at 4pm (GMT) on Friday and Saturday and 3pm on Sunday.

You can follow all the action from the Linkoping Water Games on the swimify website, where there will be both live results and a free live stream available.
