‘Determined’ Basildon and Phoenix retain National Arena League B Final title

Basildon and Phoenix successfully retained their National Arena Swimming League B Final title with a ‘determined performance’.

The Essex-based team, representing the London League, took top sport with a total of 297 points.

That was 21 ahead of runners-up City of Cardiff with Poole, making their first appearance in the national finals, third on 252.

Basildon and Phoenix head coach Doug Campbell praised his team’s display.

He said: “The whole team was determined to come here and put up a great performance after lifting the title last year.

“Everyone swam really well especially as this was, for many, the first long course meet of the season.

“This is such a great team event and really inspires all age groups to pull out all the stops.”

The top male swimmer of the meet was Poole’s Robbie Hemmings, who earned 748 points after clocking 56.84 in the 100m Backstroke.

Sevenoaks’s Eva Okaro picked up the top female prize with 761 points after finishing in 56.82 in the 100m Freestyle.
