Olympians to race for clubs as National Arena Swimming League finals return

A host of junior and senior international swimmers – including members of Team GB’s Olympic squad – are to don their club colours as the National Arena Swimming League finals return.

Twenty clubs will be in action at the Cardiff International Pool for the B Final and Cup Final on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March.

The competition was last held in 2020 when Mount Kelly were crowned cup champions, with home club City of Cardiff taking the B Final crown.

Olympians Brodie Williams (Millfield), Dan Jervis (Swansea Aquatics), Harriet Jones (City of Cardiff), South African Aimee Canny (Plymouth Leander) and Antigua and Barbuda’s Stefano Mitchell (Plymouth Leander) will all be in action in Cardiff.

The popular competition will have slightly different format than in previous years as a number of new races have been included.

While the league still features individual 50m and 100m events for swimmers aged nine years upwards, there will also be a 200m Individual Medley in the 16 years and over age group – and mixed relay races for the first time.

Teams in action

The B Final will take place on Saturday 5 March where the clubs ranked 11-20 after the regional finals will compete in the 42 events.

City of Cardiff will be aiming to retain their crown but will be challenged by Swansea Aquatics, Camden Swiss Cottage, Chelsea and Westminster, Basildon and Phoenix, Leamington Spa, City of Peterborough, RTW Monson, City of Norwich and Stockport Metro.

Sunday 6 March is the Cup Final with defending champions Mount Kelly facing competition from Millfield, Guildford City, Plymouth Leander and Wycombe and District.

Wigan Best, Hatfield, Bromley, City of Cambridge and Leicester Sharks will also be bidding to challenge in what promises to be a closely fought and exciting Cup Final.
