Determined Derbyshire bounce back to County Team Championships top flight

Determined Derbyshire made an instant return to the top flight of the National County Team Championships after lifting the Division Two title for the second time.

After winning promotion in 2018, they made an immediate return to Division Two the following year – but bounced back at the first attempt in convincing style.

They finished on 505 points – 20 points ahead of second-placed Sussex and 31 in front of Hampshire and Warwickshire and who were joint third.

All four counties will be competing in Division One in the 2023 competition.

Derbyshire triumphed in six events, were runners-up in a further six and third in three others.

Cameron Jamieson claimed two individual wins in the Men’s 14-15 Years 100m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke, while he was also part of the victorious Mixed Open 300m Freestyle Relay team alongside Joshua Bailye, Alicia Massie, Olivia Mccall, Jaden Leo and Rosie Whitten

Other individual successes came from Henrietta D’Ammassa in the Women’s 16-17 Years 100m Butterfly and Liam Dawson in the Men’s 16-17 Years 100m Butterly – while the Men’s 16-17 Years 200m Medley Team of Finley Bunhejee, George Whittle, Liam Dawson and Bailye also raced home first.
