Swim England issues update on date of 2023 National Winter Championships

Swim England’s National Winter Championships will have a new date for 2023 after the decision has been made to move the event to later in December.

The Championships are the biggest English swimming meet of the winter months and often welcomes a number of Britain’s top senior swimmers.

Last year saw more than 2,600 entries across 36 events at the competition, with Ponds Forge International Sports Centre playing host to three days of exciting action.

And Ponds Forge will once again host this year’s running of the event, which will be moved from the opening weekend in December slot to take place two weeks later.

That means the Championships will be held over the weekend of 16 and 17 December, with the exact days to be confirmed in due course.

Ekaterina Boyd, Swim England Head of Events, said: “Swim England is excited to be heading back to Ponds Forge for this year’s edition of the National Winter Championships, which will be held across the third weekend of December.

“Although we cannot confirm the exact days yet, we wanted to give regions, clubs and athletes a prior notice of the date change to enable forward planning.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming all the athletes and clubs to the competition at the end of what promises to be another incredible year for the sport.”

More information about the event will be published soon on the events home page.
