Book your place at Sport Science and Sport Medicine Conference 2020

The annual Swim England Sport Science and Sport Medicine Conference returns in 2020, with expert speakers offering insight into what attributes are needed to develop athletes for progression along the talent pathway.

The conference will be held on 8 March at Hilton East Midlands Airport.

It will focus on the practical ways to implement the Optimal Athlete Development Framework into a club.

The Framework identifies the skills, characteristics and behaviours required by athletes to be successful at major competitions, including the Olympic/Paralympic Games and World Championships.

Laying foundations for success

Diane Elliot, Swim England’s sports science and medicine manager, said: “We invite all sports science and sports medicine practitioners, as well as Level 2 and Level 3 coaches, to attend this year’s conference.

“It has been great to see so many delegates from clubs across the country benefit from this conference over the last six years.

“This year, we will provide updated guidance on the Optimal Athlete Development Framework, which will provide a great opportunity to look at best practice for clubs in developing swimmers to achieve success.”

Among the speakers will be Lindsay Trimmings, coach development manager for Swim England, and Dan Waddingham, who is the lead athletic development coach for swimming at Millfield School and the strength and conditioning regional lead for Swim England.

There are limited spaces available for the conference, so please book your place as soon as possible here.
