2026 Swim England National Summer Meet day one medallists
July 27, 2026The Swim England National Summer Meet 2026 got underway in style on day one, with personal bests, close finishes and memorable gold medal performances lighting up the opening evening of finals action in Sheffield.
Ben Pawlik of Wycombe District Swimming Club produced an impressive swim to take the title in the Open/Male 16 Years 400m Freestyle.
Pawlik touched the wall less than half a second ahead of Charlie Morgan (Teddington Swimming Club) following a closely fought race for gold.
Reflecting on his performance, Pawlik said:
I’m really pleased with my race. It was a close and tiring race but I got there in the end.
The victory capped a remarkable day for the Wycombe swimmer, who broke his own personal best twice and took more than 10 seconds off his previous mark.
Reynolds rises to the occasion
One of the most memorable moments of the evening came in the Open/Male MC 400m Freestyle final.
Theo Reynolds of Bournemouth College was the sole swimmer in the race and knew he would need to better his personal best time to secure the gold medal.
With the Sheffield crowd roaring him on throughout the swim, Reynolds answered the challenge and achieved the time required to claim the national title.

Power and Walker shine in sprint finals
Aurelia Power of Taunton Deane Swimming Club delivered a standout performance in the Female 15 Years 50m Freestyle. Power stormed to gold in a personal best time of 26.95, continuing her impressive form with a new lifetime best on the national stage.
The home crowd also had plenty to celebrate in the female sprint events as City of Sheffield’s Bethany Walker clocked a personal best in the 18+ age group.
Walker praised the support from the stands afterwards, saying:
They always know how to cheer on our team. They go absolutely wild every time and really help all of us.
Pettitt leads the way in MC sprint
Lauren Pettitt of Poole Swimming Club claimed gold in the Female MC 50m Freestyle with a time of 33.11, earning 548 British Disability points.
The S10 swimmer finished ahead of fellow 15-year-old Isabella Andreou (Crewe Flyers), who secured the silver medal.
Repton School secure one-two finish
The Open/Male 17 Years 50m Backstroke final belonged to Repton School as Joe Helps led home a club one-two.
Helps edged out teammate Finn Arnold in a closely contested race to take the gold medal, ensuring a memorable result for the Derbyshire-based club.
Double delight for Wirral Metro
Wirral Metro enjoyed a successful evening in the Female 400m Individual Medley events, collecting two gold medals.
Harper Aspinall was crowned champion in the 13/14 Years category, while Bethan James added a second title for the club by taking gold in the 16 Years final.
Double Dean Gold closes out day one
Swim Bournemouth also celebrated a successful opening night thanks to Percy Dean, who secured his second gold medal of the evening after adding the Open/Male 15 Years 200m Individual Medley title (2:13.58) to his earlier triumph in the 50m Backstroke (28.43).
The final event of day one saw Ashton Platts of Dover Life claim gold in the Open/Male MC 200m Individual Medley, bringing an exciting evening of racing to a close and rounding off a memorable opening day at the Swim England National Summer Meet.
