Games spot means world to Kurle

Patriotic Cameron Kurle says the opportunity to represent Team England at the Commonwealth Games means the absolute world to him.

Kurle, of Bath National Centre, was victorious in the 200m freestyle at the Swim England National Winter Championships last year.

He represented Team GB at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio in the 200m freestyle but is thrilled at getting the opportunity to be part of Team England’s squad competing on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Kurle, 20, said: “It means the absolute world.

Massive honour

“I went to Rio but that was for Team GB.  I’m pretty patriotic so it would be a massive honour to represent England.

“My old coach, Euan Dale, has told me all about the Commonwealths and what it can bring to you – they are a massive thing.”

Kurle is hoping to enjoy a successful 2018 after a frustrating 12 months.

“Last year was not my year,” he said. “I had an accident which prohibited my training but I’m looking forward to 2018 and what that brings.”
