Audit & Risk Committee Chair Appointment

The Region are delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Tonks as our Audit & Risk Committee Chair.

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Ian and thank him for joining our volunteer workforce.

A keen club swimmer as a child, Ian discovered Masters swimming in 2011 and continues to participate and compete, and is currently the Welfare Officer for Bexley Masters SC in Southeast London.

Professionally, he has over 25 years of experience managing the delivery of IT infrastructure in the finance sector and other heavily regulated companies. Working in this field has provided many opportunities to understand how to operate effectively with good governance, managing senior stakeholders and minimising impact to business operations while enabling new products and capabilities.

Ian has also served on two Academy Trust boards over the past 12 years; in both cases was significantly involved with the development of the structure and operating framework of the Board and sub-committees, and worked closely with the Academy executive to develop and implement a risk management framework suitable for the school. Ian is currently Vice-chair of Trustees and chairs both the Finance and Resources, and Pay Committees at a Secondary School Academy in Bexley.
