Open Water Competitions

The continuing growth of Open Water Swimming has also seen an increase in the number of open water swimming events that take place throughout the summer months, usually from May through to September. Many open water swimming venues around London will host race nights or timed swim events, while one of the largest mass participation open water swimming events in the UK is held every September when London Marathon run the Swim Serpentine event in Hyde Park.

Swim England London Open Water Championships

Swim England London hosts regional open water championship events annually for age group and masters swimmers.

For Age Group swimmers the Regional Championships offer the opportunity to qualify for the Swim England Open Water National Age Group Championships.

The regional championships are run as an open event and as such swimmers who are affiliated to clubs outside of London are welcome to participate.

Swim England London Open Water Championships 2026

The 2026 Regional Open Water Swimming Championship event is taking place on the 5th July 2026 at the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre, 235A Westferry Road, Docklands, London E14 3QS.
