Aquatic sports in the London region

Swimmer Development

Swim England London manages the swimmer development pathway in London region, part of the wider Swim England Talent pathway.

There are a number of annual programmes that are run as part of the overall Swim England Development plan for aquatics. Within Competitive Swimming these are;

Regional Development Programme

Part of the Swim England Talent Pathway, the Regional Development Programme is run as 3x one day training camps for those swimmers aged 12 within the year of competition. The aims of the camp are;

  • In the pool, swimmers will learn the basics of effective starts, turns and finishes
  • On dry-land, mobility, stability and fundamental movement skills will be covered to enhance start, turn and finishing skills
  • Workshops will be delivered for swimmers and parents on the technical emphasis of the programme, nutrition and psychology

The Swim England London Swim Team will provide selected swimmers with a variety of development opportunities across the course of the swimming season (September-July), consisting of, but not limited to;

  • International Swim Meet Abroad
