Disney-inspired family swim sessions get a Mickey makeover

More than 37,000 mums, dads and their kids have taken part in the popular Swim England Disney-inspired family fun swim sessions in the programme’s first four months – and now they are getting an exciting Mickey makeover.

The year-long programme encourages youngsters to get active and healthy in the water and was launched in June with Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4-themed sessions.

Now Mickey Mouse and Friends are set to make a splash at more than 250 pools nationwide from Saturday 5 October.

The family-friendly sessions are ideal for three to 11-year-olds, delivered by a trained activator and include 10 exciting games based on core aquatic skills.

From ‘Minnie’s Hollywood Star’ to ‘Unleash Your Donald’, and from ‘Pluto to the Rescue’ to ‘Mickey’s Orchestra’, Disney’s much-loved Mickey Mouse & Friends characters will inspire games that focus on key swimming techniques to encourage kids to feel more confident and enjoy the water.

The Mickey Mouse and Friends sessions will run until 1 February 2020, before the theme switches again to Disney’s Frozen 2.

Perfect way for family to get active

Kate Rudkin, Swim England head of brand partnerships, said: “We’re thrilled so many families have enjoyed the Toy Story 4-inspired sessions.

Mickey Mouse and Friends will give a new twist to these popular sessions and we’re delighted some of Disney’s most-loved and iconic characters will be inspiring youngsters and their families to enjoy the water over the next few months.

“It’s the perfect way to get the whole family active in the pool this autumn/winter.”

The sessions form part of Disney’s Healthy Living initiative, which uses the power of popular characters to inspire children and families to be more active.

They can be booked now – simply head to www.swimming.org/Disney to search find the nearest swimming pool to you offering the sessions.
