Dr David Hunt

Dr David Hunt was a GP for more than 30 years and a founder member of Rykneld SC.

His involvement in swimming began through his twin daughters, Carole and Sarah, who are the only twins to have swum the English Channel.

Dr Hunt trained at the London Hospital, London University where he qualified as a doctor.

He became a member, Honorary Secretary and Chairman of the ASA/British Swimming MedicalCommittee and was involved with FINA through the Medical Congresses.

Dr Hunt was also appointed doctor to the Great Britain junior and then senior swimming teams and attended two Olympic Games as Team Doctor in 1992 and 1996. He also attended numerous other major games and internationals.

Dr Hunt was also actively involved in doping control and the fight to provide a drug-free sport.

He was a member of the ASA Swimming Officials Committee for a number of years and through this was involved in the writing of examination papers.

A qualified judge and referee, Dr Hunt was also keenly involved in open water swimming.

He was awarded the FINA Silver Pin in 2008.
