Swim England encourage aquatics clubs to nominate their Hometown Heroes

Champions of community sport are to be honoured as part of a new campaign for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The search is on for Hometown Heroes to be the faces of an advertising promotion when the countdown to the competition begins in 2021.

Nominees could be a longstanding, inspiring coach, a dedicated volunteer who always puts others first, a courageous player who has overcome adversity or a diehard supporter who is always cheering from the sidelines – or anyone who’s had a real impact on their sport club, team or facility.

The Hometown Heroes will be chosen from different sports and parts of the West Midlands, celebrating and reflecting the rich diversity of the region.

Those selected will feature on billboards in the run-up to the Birmingham Commonwealth Games which are due to begin on Thursday 28 July 2022.

Members of all aquatic clubs are being encouraged to send in nominations of anyone who fits the Hometown Heroes’ criteria and either lives or works in the West Midlands.

All you have to do is describe how they have made a difference and why they deserve to be recognised as part of the Hometown Heroes campaign.
