Start your child's swimming journey with the Learn to Swim Starter Pack

Swim England has launched a new pack to get children excited about learning to swim and help parents understand their child’s swimming journey.

Learning to swim should always be fun. Children learn best when they are enjoying themselves, and when they are rewarded and recognised for their achievements.

The new Learn to Swim starter pack is the perfect way to start your child on their way. It is aimed at children up to six-years old. It includes practical advice for parents as well as goodies for children.

Katie Shoebridge, Head of Learn to Swim, said: “This pack is a really nice introduction for both the parent and child as they embark on this fun and important journey of learning to swim.

“We want to make learning to swim as easy as possible so as well as information to help parents understand the importance of teaching their child to swim, the pack also includes answers to those practical questions such as how to find local lessons and what to pack for the first lesson.”

What the Learn to Swim Starter Pack includes

The Learn to Swim Starter Pack includes the illustrated story book Discovery Duckling and Friends and a cuddly duckling toy.  The book teaches children about the core aquatics skills they will learn about during their first lessons. These are explained with demonstrations from a variety of colourful, friendly animals.

There is also a file to store their certificates and badges as they progress through the Swim England Learn to Swim programme. All of these goodies come packaged in a special drawstring bag.

Parent Katie Tomlyn has been using the pack with her three-year-old daughter Mabel. Katie said: “Mabel loves her ducky and can’t wait for it to watch her swim from the poolside.

“The Starter Pack has been incredibly helpful already. As a parent it’s always good to have hints and tips about what you need for lessons and what to expect.

“It’s also nice to be able to read the book with Mabel. The characters are really fun and Mabel already believes they are going to help her swim faster. The pack has really encouraged Mabel in her swimming journey.”
