Help us to shape the future values and vision of Swim England at our roadshows

Swim England’s members invited to help shape future values and vision

Swim England’s members are to help shape the organisation’s future direction and culture – and create a clear vision for aquatic sports – during a series of nationwide Values and Vision Roadshows in May, June and July.

Following the publication of the Listening Report, the events will be used to clarify a vision for aquatic sports in England, a purpose for the national governing body as an organisation and the values by which it wishes to operate in the future.

Insight gathered from the roadshows will help refresh Swim England’s existing strategy, with learnings from the Heart of Aquatics Listening Report at its core.

Andy Salmon, Swim England chief executive, who will be leading the roadshows, outlined plans for a positive and comprehensive collaboration with members and stakeholders to help create a ‘clear vision’ and meaningful organisational values to drive future culture.

He said: “We’re already working towards a number of the recommendations which were contained in the Listening Report – but these roadshows are an essential part of our response and an opportunity for the entire aquatics community to shape the future direction we take as an organisation and, most importantly, our culture.

“We firmly believe that an action plan alone will not bring about the change we all want to see.

“Therefore, as we take the further steps on our cultural change journey, we want to hear from our members and stakeholders again.

“Visiting a number of locations across the country will allow even more people the chance to come along and have their say and inform this critical piece of work.

“The events will help create a clear vision for our sports and lead to a robust set of values that will be deeply relevant, meaningful and specific to the aquatics community.

“We will then refresh our 10-year Access Aquatics strategy which will be guided by the new vision and values and have our safeguarding, culture and welfare plan, the Heart of Aquatics, and the learning from the Listening Report, running through as a golden thread.

Open and transparent

“I hope to meet as many people as possible throughout the roadshows and look forward to hearing their views and ideas as we continue to be open and transparent and put our members at the heart of everything we do.”
