The Adult Swimming Awards

The Swim England Adult Swimming Framework consists of four progressive stages and Awards that are suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced swimmers.

Stages and Awards

• Be Water Confident: For nervous participants or those new to swimming who want to improve their confidence.
• Be a Swimmer: Giving participants the skills necessary to start swimming independently over short distances without support or floatation equipment.
• Be a Better Swimmer: For those who can swim 25 metres or more and would like to improve their technique and build on their stamina.
• Be a Master Swimmer: For those that would like to develop more advanced swimming skills to be able to compete or confidently enter a masters section of a swimming club.

The Adult Distance Awards can be used alongside the Adult Swimming Awards, which can be gained by achieving 5 metres, 10 metres, 25 metres, 50 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres, 800 metres and 1 mile.

These are designed to provide motivational milestones for adults who enjoy lane swimming, these Awards offer clear targets to achieve.

To deliver a successful adult swimming programme we recommend each adult works with their swimming teacher/coach/coordinator to identify their reasons for attending and set personalised targets.

There’s also a Blank Achievement Award which is a great motivational tool.
