Carrie Ryan is appointed to the Swim England Board

Carrie Ryan has been appointed to Swim England’s Board as a trustee, independent non-executive director and chair of Swim England Trading Limited.

She replaces Raj Kumar, who has stepped down from the role to pursue an overseas career opportunity.

Carrie is vice-president and global head of strategy and business development at Dutch-based investment group Prosus and has previously held senior management roles at Nike and eBay.

She first qualified as an ASA Level 2 swimming instructor in 2017, and spent five years teaching swimming, including volunteering to work with under-privileged children and youngsters with disabilities.

Carrie, who still swims twice a week, said: “As a keen swimmer, it’s a huge honour to be appointed to the Swim England Board.

Further promote the sport

“I have seen throughout my career how sport can be a force for good and the huge physical and mental health benefits aquatic activity provides.

“I’m keen to use my role as a board member to further promote the sport and apply my commercial and sales background to the benefit of Swim England.”

Carrie’s four-year term on the Swim England Board began on Monday 1 April.

Richard Hookway, the chair of the Swim England Board, said: “We’re delighted Carrie has agreed to join us as she has a wealth of experience which will prove to be invaluable.

“On behalf of the board, I’d like to thank Raj for the contributions he has made during his time with us and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”
