Feedback that empowers: mastering learner-led reflections

Swim England News

Set within our Inspire theme at The One Swim England Summit, this energising and thought-provoking workshop invites educators to rethink how feedback is delivered and experienced in aquatic learning environments.

Designed to spark fresh thinking and challenge existing assumptions, Feedback that Empowers explores how reflective dialogue can transform the learning journey for both educators and participants.

In this interactive session, educators will discover practical strategies for shifting from directive, instructor-led feedback to empowering conversations that encourage learners to take ownership of their development. Through guided self assessment techniques and thoughtfully structured reflection, educators can inspire confidence, curiosity, and deeper engagement – ultimately helping learners play an active role in shaping their own success.

Delivered by Swim England’s inhouse Educator Training experts, Kylie Williams and Stuart Blair, the workshop blends insight, real examples, and hands-on exploration. Expect a lively environment that celebrates creativity in teaching practice and challenges you to see your role through a fresh, more learner-centred lens.

By the end of the session, attendees will walk away with tools and techniques that support a positive, empowering feedback culture – one that not only enhances skill development but also strengthens the sense of welcome, belonging, and motivation across the pool environment.

Join us at The Vox, Birmingham on Thursday 19 March 2026.
