Glenn Smith

Inspirational coach Glenn Smith has helped shape the careers of multiple Olympic and Paralympic Games medallists.

He began his coaching career at Coalville Swimming Club, whom he competed for as a swimmer at a regional and national level, before moving to Nova.

There, Smith coached double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington, Paralympic champions Sam and Ollie Hynd and Charlotte Henshaw.

He was also instrumental in helping countless other swimmers win age group, youth and senior medals and seen them also placed on various international teams plus Swim England’s development programmes and the British Swimming World Class Programme.

In 2015, Smith was named British Swimming’s Para Coach of the Year – an accolade also bestowed on him by the British Swimming Coaches Association in 2015 and 2016.

He is also a recipient of the prestigious Mussabini medal and was inducted into the UK Coaching Hall of Fame in 2012.

Smith retired from his coaching role in 2022 but is still actively involved in the sport as chairman of Nova Centurion and the British Swimming Coaches Association.
