Swim England to deliver webinar on improving mental health

Swim England is set to host a webinar designed to give coaches, staff and volunteers an insight on improving their mental health.

Mental health first aider, Louise Graham, will feature on the webinar titled ‘How to keep yourself mentally well’, which will take place on Tuesday 10 December at 8pm.

Diane Elliot, Swim England sport science and medicine manager, said: “We know that approximately one in four people in England will experience a mental health problem in any given year.

“It is so important to be proactive in helping swimmers, coaches and volunteers to look after their mental health.

“Mental wellbeing should be just as much of a priority as physical wellbeing for anyone involved in sport.

“We hope that creating this forum for discussion enables coaches to take good practices back to their clubs.”

We’ve… Got UR Back

The webinar continues the work of Swim England’s ‘We’ve… Got UR Back’ campaign, which seeks to provide mental health advice for clubs and swimmers.

Swim England recognises the importance of promoting positive mental health, having recently formed a partnership with Mind.

The ‘mental health and swimming’ fact sheet, produced in partnership with Mind, provides valuable tips for supporting swimmers, coaches, clubs and operators.
