Popular Swim England Poolfinder site given a host of new features

Swim England News

Swim England has relaunched its popular Poolfinder site – making it even easier for people to find the right swimming pool for them.

A host of new features have been added including live timetable data for supported facilities, different aspects of the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme and a wider range of accessibility features.

More than half a million people accessed Poolfinder in 2019 which can be used to search for swimming pools and clubs across the country.

Chris Cottrell, Swim England Head of Digital, said: “While the core purpose of Poolfinder remains the same, there are a range of new features that make the site better than it’s ever been.

“By making use of Swim England’s data, we are showing upcoming competitions and training courses at each venue, as well as pool usage from the Just Swim app.

“We’re also working closely with OpenActive which allows Poolfinder to provide live timetable data for supported centres.

“Supported by the Open Data Institute and Sport England, OpenActive is seen as a key component for the future of leisure centre interaction. It will mean people will be able to book a swimming session as easily as they can book a takeaway!

“We’re keen for as many leisure operators to publish timetable data through the OpenActive initiative and if centres want to find out more about the OpenActive initiative, please contact us.

“We hope the new changes will make Poolfinder the first point of call for anyone wanting to find a swimming pool or club near them.”

To try out the revamped Poolfinder site, visit swimming.org/poolfinder and search for your nearest facilities.
